Eklavya, the character in the Mahabharat, was a symbol of struggle against odds, a student who learned independently when a guru refused to teach him. Eklavya, the organisation, was set up with the objective of encouraging present day Eklavyas to gain access to education.
Working in the rural government schools of Madhya Pradesh for over two decades, Eklavya believes that learning should be joyful and exciting. The process of learning, whether of children or adults, should help them become confident and independent.
The Eklavya toys at Comet were initially developed to support Eklavya's work in schools. They are now being made for sale in urban areas to provide employment to craftspersons who find it difficult to survive on earnings from their traditional markets.
