 1) Position: Programme Director

Responsibilities
• The external 'face' of the organisation
• Fund raising through networking with fund-providing agencies at all stages of the process
• Overall responsibility for all legal matters & regulatory compliances
• Understands & implements guidelines and briefs Board members on progress
• Approves and allocates material resources
• Faculty & staff selection
• Team-building and work allocation
• Finalising the Annual Training Calendar
• Vetting program structure and content under initial Board supervision
• Being present at inauguration and closing sessions and taking at least one content session with each batch of students
Essential Competencies and Experience:
• Understanding of the state of the education and development fields in the country and ability to assess the needs of different NGOs in that context
• Excellent communication skills in English, Hindi and other Indian languages
• Understanding the offerings of COSMOS, ability to customize them to the NGOs needs
• Ability to promote COSMOS training programmes and other services to the NGO sector
• Ability to coach and assist participants from diverse backgrounds
• At least 10 years Hands-on experience in the NGO and activist sector
• Good practical knowledge of the academic resources in IT and media studies
• Experience in training and curriculum development

 2) Position: Dean - Academic for COSMOS

Responsibilities
• Drawing up course curriculum and getting it approved by the Programme Director and Board
• Allocation of sections to faculty and associate faculty for development
• Supervision of course development
• Approval of course modules and evaluation processes with guidance of Programme Director
• Detailed scheduling of sessions
• Choice of internal and external faculty
• Faculty development, evaluation and mentoring
• Conducting some of the sessions
• Student guidance
Essential Competencies and Experience:
• Postgraduate qualifications in development, media or ICTs
• At least seven years faculty experience in a recognised institute including teaching and course development
• Involvement with the development sector
• Ability to lead and supervise a team

3) Position: Faculty

Responsibilities
• Studying and understanding the overall objectives and structure of the course and the needs of its users
• Accessing a wide range of sources to obtain the necessary information and methodologies
• Converting the material into course material with an interdisciplinary perspective
• Testing and vetting the material
• Preparing presentations on the course for promotion to potential funders, participants and partner organizations
• Teaching the course
• Familiarising other internal/external faculty with the course material
• Obtaining feedback and tine tuning the course
• Customizing and adapting the content for other courses/users/applications
• Supervising and Training understudies (Associate Course Coordinators)
Essential Competencies and Experience:
• Graduate/diploma holder in ICTs, fine-arts/media or social studies/humanities/science
• Thorough Hands-on Knowledge of at least one of these areas - ICTs in a FOSS environment, Arts and Media, social, ecological, political, economic and cultural issues
• Curriculum/content development
• Teaching and/or training
• At least five years of relevant experience in the NGO, educational, government or corporate sectors

4) Position: Associate Faculty (faculty in training)

Responsibilities
• Assisting the concerned course coordinator in the above activities under his/her supervision
• Teaching specific parts of the course
• Standing in when the primary faculty is on leave or unable to attend
• Identifying and coordinating with external faculty
Essential Competencies and Experience
• Graduate/diploma holder
• Keen interest and willingness to learn
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Familiarity with requisite software, preferably in an open-source environment
• 2-3 years of relevant experience

5) Position: Dean - Outreach

Responsibilities
• Conceptualizing and conducting outreach programs with the approval of he programme Director
• Interacting with external agencies for sponsorship, infrastructure and participation
• Promoting the external events and using them as a platform to publicize COSMOS
• Manage temporary teams for each event
Essential competencies and experience • Familiarity with the NGO sector
• Proven track record in event management
• Excellent communication skills and ability to relate with different categories of people
• Ability to lead temporary teams of external resource people
• Good planning and time management skills

6) Position: Events coordinator

Responsibilities
• Planning and controlling the set up of external events
• Accessing infrastructure and resources necessary for the events
• Managing inventory and cash for events
Essential competencies and experience
• Good people management skills particularly conflict resolution
• Time management skills
• Ability to plan, organise and coordinate
• Problem solving skills

7) Position: Archivist-Librarian

Responsibilities
• Setting up the knowledge management facility for COSMOS
• Acquiring technology and training for the Institute
• Acquiring documents and training material in print, traditional media and digital formats
• Responding to the requirements and suggestions of the users and constantly updating the system
• Networking with external resources
• Promoting the resources of the institute to likely users through the Net and other media
• Working with institute faculty to develop online educational resources
• Assisting in the preparation of proposals, reports and presentations
Essential competencies and experience
• Qualification in library science and/or experience of running a library for at least five years
• Conversant in knowledge management principles
• Comfortable in using ICTs
• Service orientation and creative problem-solving approach

8) Position: Admin Manager and Executive Assistant to Director

Responsibilities
• Executive Assistant to Director
• Maintains all records of the institute
• Schedules, arranges and follows up on work activities such as meetings, appointments, travel
• Keeps track of traveling staff and communication with them
• Acquires, provides and maintains office infrastructure and services
• Assists faculty and external experts in organizing special events
• Looks after office communication – phone, fax, email and post/courier
Essential competencies and experience
• Preferably a graduate with management qualification
• At least two years in an administrative role with supervisory responsibilities
• Proficient in planning, organising and monitoring work
• Good oral and written communication skills in English, Hindi Marathi and other languages
• Comfortable with ICT use with Open source software

9) Position: Accountant

Responsibilities
• Draw up a budget for approval
• Monitor expenses against the approved budget
• Manage cash
• Interface with banks, etc
• Maintain books, interface with auditors
• Record keeping and reporting for statutory compliances
• Do stock taking
Essential competencies and experience
• B.Com preferably with additional relevant qualifications
• At least five years of independent book-keeping in an organisation
• Comfortable with accounting procedures and software
• Cost awareness

10) Position: Systems administrator (part-time)

Responsibilities
• Selection acquisition and installation of hardware and software
• Maintenance and troubleshooting
Essential competencies and experience
• Qualified and experienced in ICT installation and maintenance particularly in an Open Source environemnt
• Understanding user requirements and customizing systems accordingly
• Ability to solve problems rapidly

Responsibilities
• Assisting with obtaining, storage and retrieval of inputs and production/reproduction, and distribution of outputs
• Ensuring housekeeping and maintenance of premises and assets
• Arranging events
Essential competencies and experience
• Ability to understand instructions easily and carry them out effectively without constant supervision
• Ability to relate well to people within and outside the organisation
• Ability to pickup multiple skills in operating and maintaining equipment
